Response

1/ Public Protection administers all DFG applications for owner occupiers, private sector tenants and Registered Social Landlord (Housing Association Tenants).

2/ The Business Unit Manager for Public Protection is Jenny Walker but the Manager who leads on DFG’s is Damian Wilkins. 01636 650000.
The council has a contract in place for supply and installation of stairlifts and hoists to its own council dwellings. Modular ramps are not fitted on council dwellings as we find that a permanent block paved ramp to be a more cost effective, more robust and quicker solution.

4/ Premier Mobility Ltd are currently NSDC’s appointed contractor for new stairlift and hoist installs within our own council dwellings.

5/Premier Mobility’s Contract is due to expire 31st March 2026.

6/ The department which looks after adaptations to council dwellings is Housing Maintenance and Asset Management.

7/ The contact is the Business Manager or the Housing Asset Manager on 01636 650000.

8/ Stairlifts and Hoists fitted to council dwellings would be maintained through their warranty period (usually 5 years) by the installer Premier Mobility Ltd. Older equipment out of warranty would be maintained by Calandine Lifts Ltd.

9/ See question 8

10/ As stated above, Premier Mobility Ltd’s contract expires on 31st March 2026.

Calandine Lifts Ltd contract expires on 25th July 2027.
