Council Car Park QR Code Scams

Request

I would like to know:
1. How many reports have been made about fake/scam QR Codes at council-owned or council-operated car parks in the past 12 months?
2. The names of the council-owned or council-operated car parks which have been affected.
3. Please also provide copies of the 5 most recent reports related to QR scams at council-owned or council-operated car parks (or fewer if there are less than 5).

Response

1. No reports from customer stating that they had used a QR code to pay for parking.
The Parking Services team did remove QR codes found on parking machines on 08/01/2025
2. QR codes found and removed from Appletongate and the Town Wharf Car Parks on 08/01/2025
No reports of use by customers were received by the authority.
