All of the waste that is collected from the silver bins is taken directly to the Materials Recycling Facility at Forest Town (operated by Veolia). The waste here is separated into the various materials and is bailed up and sent to the relevant reprocessors where it will be recycled into new products.
If you would like specific details of the end markets (where the materials end up) then you will need to contact Nottinghamshire County Council as they are the waste disposal authority.
The glass from the kerbside collections is taken to the transfer station in the lorry park and is then transported to Wales where it is colour separated and melted down to make new bottles and jars.
Garden waste is taken to a ‘windrow’ composting facility in Oxton and is composted and used on local agricultural land.
